Newcastle is right in the middle of its annual EAT! Festival, celebrating all things food (with drink thrown in); from the ever popular cup cakes to locally sourced produce.
EAT! started serving up a wide range of treats last weekend and the festival is due to end with a big eco feast on Sunday 26th June – aptly named ‘The Great North Eco-Art-Feast’. The feast will be cooked by some of the city’s finest chefs including David Kennedy (NE2 Social), Terry Laybourne (Café 21) and Andy Hook/Troy Terrington (Blackfriars), this epic 18th Century feast will be made up of locally sourced ingredients, locally produced beers and served in the opulent surroundings of the Chandelier Room at the Assembly Rooms, suitably dressed for the occasion.
Tipped to be the ultimate ‘green’ dinner, nothing at the Great North Eco-Art Feast will be going to waste as each guest will be given a tasty goody box to take home after the event. In keeping with the theme of the evening, guests are asked to arrive by foot, bike or public transport. In addition to the food there will be live music from local ensemble, Loon and interior designer Nicola Gartland is providing the styling for event along with Sandra Clennell, a talented local sugar sculptor and patissier.
