A football club right here in the UK has been named the world’s first UN certified carbon-neutral football club.
Forest Green Rovers, play in League Two is leading the sustainable way in the UK sports. The club is powered by 100% renewable energy, and boasts solar panels on the roof. We are also thrilled to hear it serves up vegan food to both players and fans.
The pitch is organic and is cut by a solar-powered robot lawnmower. To top it off, all rainwater that falls on the stands or on the pitch is recycled to minimise the club’s use of mains water.
They have electric car charging facilities at the stadium, to encourage fans to travel to games sustainably.
Let’s hope they are setting the sustainable scene for other clubs around the UK!
